0:02When we left off, we had made a nice graph about changes in Net Sales.
0:07Now let's anchor in on something a little bit different.
0:09It's going to be a two-axis graph measuring profitability.
0:13So again, let's start on our Income Statement, but this time, let's grab just our Net Income
0:19numbers.
0:20Let's go to insert.
0:21This time, we'll pick a nice 2D line graph.
0:24Let's cut that, place it back to our Dashboard, paste it in there with the graph selected
0:31then.
0:31Let's select format, and we set our shape.
0:34Size would be a three tall by a 4.3 wide, and that should fit me onto there.
0:40We're going to change the chart title this time to be profitability, and hit enter.
0:48And let's go ahead and make that bold too.
0:51And now we have a nice line graph that we're going to customize by under chart design.
0:55Let's add some chart elements.
0:58Let's add some data labels, and let's put those data labels above my graph, and then
1:04let's click onto them so that they're all selected, and hit B to bold them.
1:09And now we've got a nice profitability line graph.
1:13Like before, let's get the years on the x-axis by choosing select data, and editing that
1:19access data range, and let's go out and grab our years 2026 to 2030 so that we can see
1:26those down below.
1:28Now I also want to add a graph that shows me a percentage instead of dollars.
1:33So the way I'm going to do that is first we're going to select data, and we're going to
1:38change this series, and we're going to edit that one, and we're going to call that one
1:43Net Income, since that's the data that it has on there, but you have to be able to type
1:47well, which you know I can't.
1:49So let's call that Net Income, and after we have our Net Income, let's add a new one,
1:56and this one is going to be net Profit margin, and those values are going to come off the
2:03Income Statement, and we'll let it be those last row of values, and click OK, and click
2:10oK again, but you see how terrible it looks because there are such small numbers that
2:15i actually want to get a different y-axis over here, so I'm going to do that by choosing
2:21change chart type, come to my combo area, I'm going to have them both be line graphs,
2:31but this orange values, I want it to have a secondary axis, where then I can see my
2:39values on the right hand side measured, but I don't like how these small percents are
2:45on top of big dollars, so I'm going to click on to my axis, and then like before, under
2:52format, format selection, I'm going to tell it instead that I would like the minimum to
2:57be a negative.01, and I'd like the maximum to be a.15, and then that way I get my graph
3:06to have a line beneath it, qualified by the right hand side.
3:12Let's give this a little bit of pop by selecting on all of those particular values, and then
3:18under that format selection, let's go back to the paint can, let's give it a border that's
3:23a solid line, and how about we use that same dark blue color that we've been using previous,
3:30and now we have a nice profitability graph that on the blue line that's labeled and bolded
3:37shows me in dollars my profits, and then on the orange line I have these percentages,
3:45which may be then best shown in the end by adding one last element on the chart design,
3:53let's go ahead and add that legend on the top so we can see exactly what the blue is
3:58versus what the orange is, and now we have a nice profitability 2y axis graph measuring
4:05dollars and percents to complement our Net Sales. In the next video we'll go ahead and
4:12we're going to build another type of comparative graph, this time on the Balance Sheet side.
4:19We'll see you then.
